Netflix's Shirley Chisholm Biopic Starting Regina King and Lucas Hedges as Robert C. Gottlieb

Some people may know that I served as national student coordinator on Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm's 1972 presidential campaign staff. I travelled throughout the country organizing students to vote for Mrs. C (that's how everyone addressed her) in the Democratic primary states. The official trailer of the movie, "Shirley," directed by John Ridley and starring Regina King, has just been released. This feature movie is set to premiere on Netflix on March 22. Lucas Hedges who has starred in many movies including Manchester by the Sea and Lady Bird is cast as "Robert Gottlieb." As crazy as that sounds, he plays me. If you take a look, you will see me (or is it Lucas?) in the first snippet of the trailer depicting Congresswoman Chisholm informing me of her intention to run for president. Shirley Chisholm was an inspiring and audacious woman who shattered boundaries in her historic 1972 campaign for president. I hope you will take a look at the trailer and then the movie that should inspire all of us to continue her "Good Fight."
